Hi,
Would appreciate the input. A plastic surgeon I bill for often uses the same procedure code for many different areas on the same date of service. For example, cpt code 11300 x 6...(performed on 6 different areas). How would this be billed? This one seems to always get denied.
Also it seems when a bilateral procedure is performed only one side gets paid. Should it not be 50%?

I am sure the ICD codes would be different for each of the body part where the procedures were performed. Do you use a modifier like 59 to differentiate every additional service?
About the bilateral service, if you are not adding a 50 modifier and submitting it with 2 units, please try doing that.

The 11300 is specifically for trunk, arm & legs. Are all lesions on those areas? If so I believe you would bill the 11300h with the number of lesions removed in the units all on one line. You could try billing them on separate lines with the 59 modifier but if they are all in the same area that may not work (since the dx codes will be same/similar). I am not a certified coder but I believe it would be billed on one line with the number of lesions as the units.
