I need help! I am new to medical billing and I have a potential mental health client asking me the following questions that I have no answers for. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

1. Is it possible to get new independent contractors of the office on the insurance panels?

2. Has anyone ever managed to get LMSW or LCSW without their Rs on insurance panels?

Thank you!

all providers need to contract with the insurance company and link the contract to the office and/or facility.

Thank you! How easy is it to get new independent contractors placed on insurance panels? Is it just a matter of credentialing them?

Also, does it matter if the LCSW or the LMSW has their Rs to get them on panels? My initial instinct is no, but since they were asking the question I thought I might be missing something.

Thanks again!

all licensed providers must credential with the insurance companies and be accepted first.

Even if they are joining a group, the credentialing process is the same as if they were separate.  Unless they are already credentialed and just need to be linked to the group they are starting from scratch.

Each insurance is different on whether they allow LMSW's or LCSW's without the R.
