PECOS
« on: March 04, 2019, 04:11:51 PM »
Hello,
We are a laboratory company that has a provider that we do services for that is does not want to be enrolled in Medicare. My company wants me to enroll them into PECOS, but PECOS is for enrolling into Medicare correct?

If the provider is not enrolled to take Medicare patients, dont the patients have to sign an ABN form and that is how the lab will need to bill the patients?

The lab will not be able to bill Medicare without the ABN is this correct?

PECOS is basically Medicare enrollment.

If the provider is not enrolled in Medicare they are not supposed to treat Medicare patients.

Thank you Michele.
That is exactly what I told  them, but we have a provider that thinks even though they do not want take any Medicare patients that they can still enroll for PECOS. I called and chatted with an agent at CMS and they said that they cannot.

I appreciate you also confirming.
Have a good day.
