I entered a Medicare claim and mistakenly listed that the patient had died when she had not. Anybody who has made this error knows you just get tossed back and forth between Medicare and Social Security. I thought I finally got the wording right " I need to make a change to the Medicare beneficiary file to correct a error for the patient status" So far I have faxed a letter from the case manger showing proof of life to the local SS office who was then going to send it along to the Mid-atlantic office" I have contacted a person at the national office who said she corrected it but its been over 2 weeks and and had someone at the National office say she sent a message to someone to contact me but that never happened. CMS still says she died. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

you killed a patient?   :D :D :o<jk>

I'd call back and ask for the person who you talked to before. Also wondering if patient needs to make this change?
