Credentialing W9 question
« on: July 02, 2019, 02:15:11 PM »
Behavioral health Systems is asking me for a W9 for a provider in our group that is working under our tax ID number.  I had sent a W9 for the bearer of the tax burden - the owner of the business. But the operator, in order to change our address at BHS, has requested I also fill one out for an employee of the company since the employee is using the tax ID.

I say that since the money all goes to the business, then the business W9 is the only one she needs and if she needs an updated address for any providers in the group I will provide a different document at their request.

Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance.

Whenever I credential a provider at our office, I send in a W-9 for the individual provider, not the owner of the practice. Because the new providers don't have tax ID #'s, they put their SS # on the W-9 instead.

Beacon Health Services often denies claims with that message "need W9" but the claim is actually denying for a completely different reason.  I think that is a standard message they use.  I would call first to make sure the denial is correct.
