I have done chiropractic billing for several years and the office I work for recently hired a physical therapy as well, so that is new to me. I wanted to see if someone could clarify a situation for me. If a new patient comes in and schedules to see the chiropractor, the chiropractor does a consulation and decides that phyical therapy would be better for them. But he still treats her, so he bills an exam and other codes. Then the next day, the patient comes in to see the physical therapist and he bills a new patient visit and other treatment codes and begins her treatment plan with him.
I know they are two different specialities but if she needed PT, shouldnt the chiro just stopped at the consult and not billed for an exam just to turn around and have the PT bill a new exam the next day as well. The chiro is the owner so I just want to check if that is normal for integrated offices since this is new still. Hopefully my question makes sense. Thank you!
