It's because of all the paperwork involved, also, no matter what state you are in, WC isn't going to move faster by accepting electronic claims, especially in states like NY and California where they are just so backed up any which way you look.
I always tell my clients that you will always wait for reimbursement and the only thing you can do to ensure no FURTHER delays is to keep good records, get an attorney's LOP when possible and keep doing follow-up. Most WC cases are held up in whole because there are many times where multiple physicians are involved in one case and if one physician delays paperwork it can delay an entire case.
Every carrier is different and WC is different in every state.

Very true. I wasn't expecting electronics to speed anything up. I would like not having to mail them though, although as Linda mentioned, many times they are requesting extras like notes, referrals, etc so it won't help.
