Sorry, but I really have to disagree with you on this one. I have had several people look at my page, people who i respect in the business and nobody actually picked up on the "missing period". I think when you reviewed you, you read it to critique, not just to see how it looked it. Its like the email people send out where they write something and its jumbled, but you can read it because the first and last letter are correct. your mind still allows you to know what the word is. The grammar mistakes is something that is totally unacceptable to me, so I'm glad my post generated you to fine tune my page. Ironically it was the only page on my website that I hit edit on to change the wording when I upgraded the site. I don't think a client will be "oh God she missed a period" she can't be my biller, but a website filled with grammatical errors can cause reason to doubt. Thanks for the heads-up, and please don't just stop at the home page, please go through the entire site. I have no problem with constructive criticism, or pointing out something that is wrong so that I can correct it. Even if I disagree on the "missing period" I'd rather put it in than leave it out once I know its missing

I did go through the rest of the pages, and like I said, I like it and think that you give just the right amount of information on your site. You show how knowledgeable you are and you have a variety of services to offer. I have not built my site yet, but when I do, I want it something like yours, short and to the point. I think it is really good and once I do build my site I will let you know and have you critique it for me. And, no I wasn't reading your site as if I was critiquing it, I actually do notice all errors, no matter how obvious or how small. I am a transcriptionist so everything I read jumps out at me because my work has to be right the first time. I am sorry if you felt I was only looking at your site to critique it because I honestly went to it to see how it looked and to get some ideas, but as I stated, everything jumps out at me because my current trade is as a transcriptionist and it has to be right the first time. I read all types of books every day and it is unbelievable how many errors I find in books that I have paid good money for, it is so annoying. Sometimes it is better to have someone objective critique your work, someone that you do not know because you most likely will get a more constructive response because they are not as afraid of giving you criticism and pointing out errors or how something could be reworded to make it just a bit more readable. Family and friends, no matter how much we respect them, don’t always tell the whole truth simply because they love you and don’t want to hurt your feelings or feel like they are being critical of your work.
My point about the missing period, etc. was me just trying to give an example of how some people (I have worked with some "anal" type personalities...hate that word, but that is the best description) that would look at those "minor" errors and feel that you do not have a good understanding of attention to detail. Yes, I agree, you can read something with errors and know what it is suppose to say and mean. However, the point I was trying to make is if you are careless with your website and presentation of yourself and your business, then some people, not all, but some would feel that they do not want to trust their business to you, they may feel that you will miss things when filing their claims. Again, your original post was a good topic and made good points, so if you really believe what you wrote then just maybe you can see what I am trying to say. I know you, and probably a lot of other people, will think "what's the big deal, it’s just a missing period," but that’s just a small part, it is the big picture that I am trying to point out, that being attention to detail. When you start thinking like that then that is when more and more mistakes can happen. I guess this is just because I am a transcriptionist and I have to try to get everything I type right the first time. Believe me when I say, I make plenty of errors. Nobody is perfect, but I really do try to get it right the first time. Heck, I probably made some errors typing this, LOL! ;D

Oh well now I see...LOL you are the one I need to call when I do my upgrades!! I can't do that transcription stuff....too much for me. I hated English grammar, but I loved literature. And you know how books go, you have artistic freedom and can write how you want in some books...LOL

Yeah, people think I'm crazy and wonder how the heck I can sit there and listen to someone talking and just type and type. I don't know I just love it; it has just come easy to me. I can sit and watch TV while typing away and hardly miss a beat, but it’s not challenging enough for me and I have worked in a mental health practice for almost 7 years before strictly working from home as a transcriptionist, so about 7-8 months ago I started my quest to owning my own billing service specializing in mental health. I will continue to do my transcription too (just can't give that up yet), but will eventually have to give it up if I grow too busy.
I enjoy reading your posts and I feel I have gained quite a bit of knowledge from you, Linda, Michelle and all the others. I just hope that one day I will be able to post more, meaning that I am knowledgeable enough to give answers. Some things I can now, especially if it is mental health, but I still don't know everything for that yet. But as long as there are people like you guys out there willing to help others, then it makes it seem possible to achieve my goals.
Thanks for all you share! :)
