Medicare providers
« on: June 25, 2009, 07:44:35 PM »
Regarding individual providers who have Medicare numbers......  Are they required by law to see medicare patients even if the Group that they bill under does not have a Medicare number? Just the doctor or clinician has an individual Medicare number, but they work for a Group or Facility who does not have a Medicare number.

Thank you,

K

If the DR is a Medicare provider (individually) but works (as an employee) for a group is not a Medicare provider, then the group does not (should not) accept Medicare patients so therefore the Dr would not see Medicare patients.

If the Dr is a Medicare provider and the charges were billed out under their individual number, then they would be paid directly, and the group would not and that would be a problem too.
