Starting a Medical Billing Business > Starting Your Own Medical Billing Business
I am in need of Clients!
midwifebiller:
Some advice my business counselor gave me as I re-start my midwifery billing business:
1. Join online groups and participate in appropriate conversations. For example, I have joined every Yahoo group that has to do with midwifery, then lurk until an insurance question comes up. Then I respond. By responding, you set yourself up as an expert in your field. I don't know how many DME groups there are out there.....
2. Join local business groups or provider groups and attend their meetings. Get yourself out there and be visible.
3. Publish articles in appropriate periodicals or even a newspaper that is where your providers are. I know our local papers regularly spotlight new businesses in the area.
4. I am sending monthly e-newsletters to a large group of midwives. It has a short business article, a billing article, something political (with all the healthcare reform in the news lately, this isn't hard) and a comic. Again, you are establishing yourself as experienced, knowledgable, an expert, etc., etc. It is a short one-page e-newsletter, but it gets my name out there.
Be persistent! It will pay off.
