Ophthalmology House Calls
« on: October 20, 2009, 04:13:44 PM »
I am a billing student and I need some serious help!!

I was given the task to find out how to bill Medicare and Medi-Cal house calls that an eye doctor would make so that it would not be denied and get paid. The scenario is the patient is a bed ridden patient who needs their eyes checked so the doctor makes routine house calls. I have done some research, called billing companies, who are no help. I even called Medicare and Medi-Cal and I can never get a human being to talk to me!

If anyone knows what I can do where I can look or just knows the answer to this it would be GREATLY appreciated! I need my A!! please help!
Thanks a million ;D

The cpt code for the eye exam would be the same as if it were done in the office, only the place of service would change.  I'm assuming they gave you a diagnosis that the patient is having the exam for since Medicare doesn't pay routine eye exams.  Medi-cal is a whole nasty beast of it's own so I can't help you there!

Good luck
