Modifier 52-

Isn't this used when you did not get to complete the procedure?

My provider has this on his superbill:

97014 Muscle Stim < 8mins
97014-52 Muscle Stim > 8mins

97140 TRIGGER POINT < 15mins
97140-52 Trigger point > 15mins

This seems reversed to me. The only thing I can think of his maybe they have their greater than/less <> than signs confused.  But I want to make sure I am understanding it correctly before I ask them if they are utilizing it correctly but just have it down wrong on the superbill. Or should I leave it alone and just presume the provider knows what he is doing?

Thanks for your help!

Michele

It looks odd to me too. The 52 modifier means reduced services.  I think he definitely got it backwards.
