billing question

I am billing for a D.O., the fee slip states dx= knee pain, low back pain, hip pain and fall/trauma @ home.
my question= should I inlcuded ICD9 E855.9 on the claim form along with the other dx codes.. please advice.. Thank you!

accidental poisoning???? is it a dx that the md noted, if not why would you put it on there??

The E code you have isn't accurate for the fall, but if you get the right E code I would include it if the provider mentioned it.

You can bill the correct E code, but don't use it as the 1st dx or it will get kicked out.  You'll want the patient's symptoms dxs first, then the cause.  Also, if the DO did any adjusting, use the spinal dxs before the knee, unless the sole reason for the appointment was the knee.

BTW falls are E880-E888, and be specific.

Bill your CC as yout primary and your E-Code last as the ladies have mentioned your using the wtrong E-Code for this slip and fall.

i have been having problems to get the E-codes billed at all. We are sending our claims through availity and it wont let my claim through with the fall diagnosis.
am i doing something wrong?

redeyecherry.....same as above...did you try billing the E code as the secondary, tertiary, or quarternary diagnosis??

yeah i tried it, i had to bill a dog bite today and that went through, so maybe i just used the wrong fall diagnosis back then.
