Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum and it looks like there is a lot of good info here. I have been doing medical billing for a small home health agency for almost a year. I recently passed my Certified Professional Medical Biller (CPMB) and Home Care Coding Specialist (HCS-D) exams. I am studying to take the CPC exam in 8 weeks. So here is my question:
I would like any advice or info you may have on starting a home health billing business. I really like home health and educating others. I have seen some agencies get buried in our area by fraud, horrible billing errors and RAC reviews.
I currently do direct date entry billing and would like to be able to do so from home, does anyone know if this is possible?
The agency that I would for uses NGS, National Government Services, as the intermediary with EDI. Is it possible to use this with a home-based business?
Would I have to register with Medicare to become a provider in order to bill through EDI?
I really don't want to have to use a software with a bunch of stuff i don't need, though I have looked into EZClaim. Any advice?
I am also seeking a mentor who does billing for home health agencies. Any help or advice you could offer would be much appreciated. Thanks.
