BILLING BC/BS

Patient has BC/BS of Illinois receiving services here in NY.  Do I bill BC/BS of IL or NY.  Cannot say I have ever had this occur before and just want to be correct in billing the appropriate BC/BS.

You should go on the BC/BS site or call the number on the card.  We have lots of patients on BC/BS of Illinois and we're in California.  They usually tell you to bill your local.  You first need to find out if you bill your local BC or your local BS.  The group determines where you send the claim. 

Your claims will process so much faster if you take the time to do this first!

If patient has BCBS of IL i hope that your office received a pre-cert/notification for treatment, if the patient's plan required it.

However you will be sending the claim to your local BCBS in NY as long as you participate with your local BCBS in NY.
