Thanks rdmoore. :)
I don't have any aversion to getting experience. If a person has the opportunity to get experience I would encourage them to do that. But I also believe that there are people out there that getting experience is not an option and to those I say, it will be difficult, but I won't say it can't be done.

--- Quote ---I agree, experience can help out a lot. I am considering looking for a billing clerk position or anything that can help get my feet wet. It reminds me of how now with education and the economy even having a bachelors isn't enough at times to get a "good" job.

Very smart of you Alicia!! ;) If you are finding it hard to get a billing position, try for a front desk receptionist, filing clerk, etc....anything to get your foot in the door....get yourself familiar with the 'flow' of the medical office....the 'forms' you will encounter....it will be a GREAT benefit to you once you get that first client!!

--- Quote ---So what are you saying, those of us who never did billing can't do it because we didn't have "experience" I think there are many of us who have and will prove that false.

Did I say that? I don't recall saying that ???
--- Quote ---In case you have not noticed, the country is in a bad recession. Getting a "job" (especially one in a new field) is a bit hard.

EXACTLY!!! And getting a CLIENT in a new field isn't???

I'm going to step in much earlier this time and ask that we all just stop, respect each other's opinions and leave it at that. We do not all have to feel the same way about a topic. People on the forum are grown up enough to read all responses and decide what is best for them and their situation.

Steanie:
Hello everyone, I'm new here but hope to be coming here very often. I plan to open my own medical business in the near future after completing a few priorities in my life at the moment. I was going to post a reply regarding experience and where to go from where I'm at now, but after reading through the forum, I am really excited about my venture into my own medical billing business. I do have very little experience with an Associates degree in Medical Billing and Coding Specialist. I can say most employers do look for experience and cerifitcation in coding, if you are looking for a coding position, unless you can really sale yourself at the interview for a coding position. This is one reason why I wanted to start my own business. To provide people (male or female) a place to gain experience in the field if they wish to venture into a physicians office or hospital. My only question is can this be done with a well established business and how long would it take me to provide and offer this service to both the client and employee? Thanks in advance for your help in this. By the way, fantastic site. The first and best one I found since researching this field.
