I believe patti hit it on. HIPAA 5010 is now in exiatence. As for ICD-10 this is not new it actually started back in 1993, we were the only ones to wait to use it and that point is proven as even now ICD-10 is outdated and many are now moving to ICD-11 while we are just implementing 10. With the implementation of EHR, and HIPAA 5010 and the total cost in hundreds of thousands of dollars that many facilities have budgeted I beleive it will happen on it's deadline. Another thing to keep in miond is training for 10. It seems like every one under the sun is trying to make a buck off of it offering training, certification, etc. My advice, stick to a relaible source becuase I have found that many of these facilities/Educators have the slightest idea what they are talking about. I mean afterall, I would hope that one that is in this business would know their medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
