I am new to this med billing forum and new to the whole medical billing industry as a whole. I love the posts and comments on this forum. Everyone is very helpful and informative. Which is a plus because most medical billing business owners that I have contacted for info or guidance have been, well lets just say not helpful. Almost as if I am trying to take there business away. My concern is that I am coming into medical billing w/o any background in med billing. I am, however, a nurse that does clinical reimbursement for a facility. For those that don't know what that is, I work for a facility to maximize the reimbursement that we get from Medicare and insurance companies. I am very familiar with ICD-9 codes and what is generally covered by Medicare and insurance companies. However, I have no background in actually medical billing. I have had a life changing experience and I am looking to do something from home and I came across medical billing. I have started a medical billing course online through medicalbillingcourse.com and I have actually purchased software with DAQ billing. I have read most if not all of the posts regarding marketing, and my fear is that my potential clients will not want to deal with someone that has no med billing background. Most of you all have some sort of insurance billing background, or worked in a doctors office doing medical billing and branched out on your own. Is there anyone that does not have a background in med billing that has gone into med billing, and did it affect you gaining clients? I am just trying to get a feel on how I should approach gaining clients. That is my next step in this process, marketing. As you can see I have already purchased software, so there is no turning back for me, I have to make this work Smiley Any help or comments will be greatly appreciated.
