Billing vs. Collections Pricing

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they charge differently if they are doing the billing from
A-Z vs. just doing collections on old claims. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Absolutely. Collecting on old claims is more work than clean billing. We always charge differently. Sometimes we use it as a bargaining tool to get a client to sign for clean billing, but we always charge separate/differently.

Always charge more for old billing. As stated above, clean billing is always easier and less time consuming. Not all the claims you work will get paid. That would be a lot of time you spent cleaning out their aging and not getting paid for.

Thank you both for that information. I will remember that when I start signing clients. Thanks again.

I do a full analysis before I give a price, very hard to say w/out seeing the accounts your working with. I charge hourly rate so that I get paid for all my work.

It really depends on things like how old is the A/R, what was the situation, were most claims denied and need appealing or just not billed, what payors, etc. Like Linda we usually do a flat fee or hourly rate to make sure our time is covered.

Thank you Linda and Michele for that information. It is a good thing to know ahead of time, that way I am not selling myself short.
