I am wondering if I could collect the medicare deductible that went against what I billed for our psychiatrist.   Ex. I billed $40.00 -- medicare allowed $15.48 --  and $15.48 was applied to the deductible.  We received $0 from Medicare.

Medicare then forwarded to Medicaid and they paid $10.00.   Can I collect the balance $5.48 from the patient?   Would I need to send a bill?   Thanks in advance for any input :)

What state are you in?  It really depends on your state laws and if Medicaid says the patient is responsible.

I am not familiar with IL state laws regarding Medicaid.  Do you know if you are able to bill Medicaid eligible patients?  In NY the answer would be no.
