Need advice please!
« on: September 12, 2012, 02:28:28 PM »
So, I just recently got a new provider.  He's an Optometrist with two businesses.  The first is his practice, the second is a vision therapy practice.  They are in VERY bad shape.  It's going to take months of work and research to get them out of the hole.  This is my first provider for my business  (I have experience in medical billing, just was always an employee).  So anyway, my question is this.  What is the best way for me to show them the money I've made them and gotten back from what they've lost?  Comparative reports?  Spreadsheets? They use Officemate and I hate it so far!  I can't even print a delinquent claims report  :P

Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated b/c I want them to be aware of everything I've done for them so that way I am ensured they keep me after I get them back in good shape.

Thanks!

Michele

A couple of our providers use Office Mate too.  It's certainly not my favorite!  Anyway I'm not sure I understand.  Any receivables that come in after you take over would be the money you've collected.  Wouldn't they just know what they were previously bringing in and what they are bringing in after you start?  As for the older charges you should be able to run a report showing payments by date of service, however I am not aware if Office Mate allows you to do that.

You can try to ask Office Mate if they will create reports for you that show the date of payment and and the date of service and it will show your client how you are doing with the older balances.  You can also show a comparison each month on the aging reports and that will show how your efforts are reducing the older aging.  The fact that the money is increasing each month should show the improvement.  If the client is questioning your efforts you may just have to show what you are doing with a daily report of dollars collected each day and MTD, claims sent, new claims sent, rejects and reasons, # of patient statements and aging worked mtd.  Good luck!
