Now is the time to market!

Hello - This may sound obvious, but it bears repeating, now is the time to market your billing business! With this virus making a mess of things, some of your smaller clients are going to retire, merge with other clinics, or do the billing themselves to save money as their own customer base shrinks. I don't want to sound like a fear monger, but the economy may not recover anytime soon, so get out there on the weekends, and slip your business cards under clinic doors, and doormats. Crank up that phone and do some cold calls, keep sending out your direct mailers. Now is not the time for complacency. Better to have your pick of too many clients than see your income dwindle too low (unless you really to want to be a greeter at WalMart!  :o)

Thanks for the pep talk!  Good advice.  While most of the country is closed, many medical offices are still open, at least to some capacity and most are starting to get back to a somewhat normal schedule, at least here in central NY.  Another thing to consider is that not all staff will return to work.  Some workers may decide this is a good time to retire (like my aunt) while others may just want a career change to a non medical job.  In any case, offices may find that they need to find a new billing option.  If you are in need of clients, this is a good time to be looking.

I agree with everything that has been said in this thread, but want to caution one thing...I would NOT be making cold calls at this time to offices. The last thing I want is a call from a billing company when I am dealing with 500+ patients returning my phone calls to get back on our schedule, and the fact that we require all patients we are seeing now to call us from the parking lot of our office so that we can go and get them and bring them into our office. Especially since we are operating with one staff (me), and one doctor, due to having to space patients out like we have to, in order to be compliant with state mandates, etc. Just today, I had some guy call to "lower our electric bill" when at the same time I had a patient calling from the parking lot that I needed to bring into the office. The intrusive phone call from him was not welcome.  :-\
