chosing specialty to bill
gderilus:
I know it would be easier for a new biller to bill for Mental Health Provider. what about pediatricians ? I would think they would be easy to bill also. Any advice please, I've been billing for a Mental Health provider and I would like to start billing for pediatricians and beside I think the income would be nice. I'm also thinking about Chiropractors, is it complicated to bill for them also.
Pay_My_Claims:
Not necessarily. I know one of the hardest parts of billing for peds in NC is dealing with health check ups (medicaid) and vaccinations. the dental cleanings. Also when your Ped delivers at a hospital, keeping up with that billing can be difficult for new billers.
Michele:
Mental health is pretty easy, chiros I don't mind but many run away from them. As for peds, I think the money is good, and they aren't too bad, except like Charlene said the well checks and immunizations can get tough for Medicaid in some states.

For me that isn't an easy answer. It very much depends on the level of retention for each biller. I took to gen med/peds pretty well because I retain knowledge very well (back then) but I also kept cheat notes. Right now I enjoy DME, but the rules and codes change often in DME. DME to me is good for a new biller, but its limiting. Also it depends on what end of DME you want to work. Custom Rehab (power chairs etc) isn't for the new biller in my opinion if you get into DME. Podiatry may work for some since you can get a overview of both medical and dme billing in that field. Neurology you can do the same, but it can be more complex with neurology on the medical side.
